If imitation is the greatest form of flattery, the Timex catalog is full of good vibes.

This year alone, the brand has turned to Rolex, Omega, Zenith, IWC, Cartier and TAG Heuer for inspiration when designing affordable watches that punch well above their price tags, at least in the looks department.

So it should come as little surprise to see it continue the trend into the home stretch of 2025.

Yet again, a new Timex collection calls to mind an iconic watch. Only this time, it’s from another brand in the affordable, mass-produced arena.

No, that’s not a Casio. It’s a new space-themed digital watch from Timex.

Lift off

On sale next week, Timex honors the Artemis program with a pair of NASA-branded watches, each available in two colorways.

First up are the TW2Y13000 and TW2Y13100, both of which follow in the footsteps of the Expedition as simple field watches with a priority on legibility and utility.

A wristwatch with a black case and an orange textured strap. The watch face is white with black numerals and black hour and minute hands. The second hand is thin and red. The dial features the logos "ARTEMIS" at the top and "NASA" in red at the bottom. The brand name "TIMEX" is printed on the right side of the dial. The watch shows the time as approximately 10:09:37.
With their clean, legible dials and round cases, the TW2Y13000 (pictured) and TW2Y13100 both take after Timex’s Expedition watches.

They come with white dials, featuring both the Artemis and NASA “worm” logos, Arabic numerals and silicone straps — the only difference being that one is orange while the other is blue.

The dial includes the NASA logo in red and the Artemis program logo in blue and red. The watch is placed on a textured gray surface with a dark background.
The two watches are identical with the exception of the band color.

The more interesting watches, however, are the TW2Y13300 and TW2Y13500, two references based off the Timex T80.

However, from afar, you’d certainly be forgiven for mistaking them for a number of digital watches from Casio, including the legendary F-91W.

The watch has buttons on the sides labeled SET, START/STOP, MODE, SPLIT/RESET, and INDIGLO. The background resembles a starry night sky with a textured surface below the watch.
The TW2Y13300 (pictured) features a square case similar to the T80, which takes after retro designs from the 1980s (as well as number of Casio models).

Down to Earth

To be fair to Timex, the T80 (though a relatively new design) is based off its own retro designs from the 1980s. So it’d be disingenuous to call it a ripoff of the Casio F-91W or even A168 — both of which debuted in the 1990s.

The truth is both Timex and Casio made square digital watches throughout the ’80s.

Regardless, the A168 or F-91W have both become cult classics, and it’s impossible not to see their influence extend into this new pair of watches from Timex.

Both the TW2Y13300 and TW2Y13500 (pictured) feature NASA’s current blue circular insignia, instead of the retro “worm” logo.

The TW2Y13300 and TW2Y13500 are virtually identical, with one touching down in “Space-Suit Orange” and the other in white.

They include Timex’s stalwart Indiglo back-light technology, with NASA’s traditional blue circular logo on the black lens.

Availability and pricing

All four new watches will go on sale September 16, retailing for $75 a pop.

The NASA Artemis Collection is broader space-inspired drop that also includes Peanuts- and Jetsons-themed Marlin watches.
