Is This Now the Best Timex Watch Under $200?

You won’t find a better Tank alternative for this price.

Back in September 2025, seasoned watch journalist and former Gear Patrol staffer Oren Hartov pointed out that the sleeper hit of Todd Snyder’s Spring/Summer 2026 runway show was a then-unreleased Timex watch.

Well, Spring 2026 is here, and that tantalizing timepiece is now available. It’s called the 1976 Lexington, and it is not only the best dress watch to sport Timex on the dial, but it may also be the best anywhere priced under $200.

As the name suggests, the 1976 Lexington was originally released in the 1970s, but it clearly draws inspiration from Art Deco-era rectangular watches like the Cartier Tank and JLC Reverseo.

It falls into the same category as the much-hyped three-part collaboration between Timex and Noah, which ran through 2024 and 2025.

The ’76er

Earlier this year, Timex quietly released its own faithful reissue of the 1976 Lexington, featuring a printed Roman numeral hour track outside of a railroad minutes track.

Todd Snyder replaced the Roman numeral hour track with alternating Arabic numerals and dashes.

This collaboration uses the same 21mm-wide rectangular case with a fluted, polished crown, but sheds the gilt coating for a polished stainless steel finish.

Snyder’s reimagining of the Lexington replaces the printed Roman numerals with applied indices, alternating between even Arabic numerals and dashes.

It creates a beautiful symmetry, with angled dashes in each corner and horizontal markers at 3:00 and 9:00, divulging perfectly aligned sectors.

The dial is available in black with metallic hands and indices and a white railroad track, off-white with black hands, indices and railroad track, and “butter yellow” with metallic hands and indices and a black railroad track.

Unfortunately, the baby blue and pink dials worn during the runway show are not available, at least not yet.

Two-hand touch

As beautiful as this classic dress watch is, the best part about it is the price. It costs just $169, thanks largely to its generic quartz movement.

But the time-only dial has no seconds hand, negating the lurching motion that turns many people off from electronic watch movements. It features the same alpha hour and minute hands as the standard 1976 Lexington.

Two of the references, the black dial and the “butter yellow” dial, come on black leather straps with branded steel pin buckles, while the off-white dial comes on a khaki leather strap with a branded steel pin buckle.

Todd Snyder’s “TS” logo is discreetly printed quite small on the dial above the 6:00 hour marker, and the steel caseback features a large “Timex x Todd Snyder” etching.

Availability and pricing

All three color options are absolutely classic and perfect for daily wear, but I’m hoping that the baby blue and pink dials come out later this summer.

The Timex x Todd Snyder 1976 Lexington will be available on April 23 from Timex and Todd Snyder online and in Todd Snyder stores for $169.
