Tudor chose the 2025 Miami Grand Prix to reveal its latest F1-inspired timepiece, honoring its ongoing partnership with the Visa Cash App Racing Bulls (VCARB) team.

Like the Tudor Black Bay Ceramic “Blue” launched last year, Tudor has used the opportunity to experiment with materials to emphasize the timepiece’s motorsports connection.

Mystery Solved

Early this year, at the world’s biggest watch trade show, Watches and Wonders Geneva, our team had the opportunity to preview and go hands-on with most of Tudor’s upcoming 2025 releases, including the new Pelagos Ultra, Black Bay 58 with Master Chronometer Certification, and the Tudor Black Bay Pro with a white dial.

But a large countdown clock positioned next to a replica VCARB F1 car inside the brand’s massive booth might’ve been the most intriguing thing we saw there.

It was clearly teasing an upcoming racing watch, but we had no idea what it might look like.

A New Case for the Race

As the “Carbon 25” in the watch’s name implies, the stand-out feature of the Tudor Black Bay Chrono “Carbon 25” is a carbon fiber case and matching one-piece carbon fiber tachymeter bezel, sub-counters and even carbon fiber end links.

The level of detail here highlights Tudor’s increasing familiarity with working with the strong, ultra-lightweight material. The brand released its first-ever carbon fiber watch, which was also the first for its parent company, Rolex, back in 2023 with the launch of the 43mm Tudor Pelagos FXD.

Besides the material change, Tudor made additional changes to the case to distinguish the F1 collaboration from its core Black Bay Chrono references.

At 42mm wide and 13.3mm thick, it’s a mm wider and also slightly thinner than the typical stainless steel cased version.

It feels natural to presume that the Tudor Black Bay Chrono “Carbon 25” is lighter than its stainless steel cousins, but Tudor’s press materials don’t include an official weight.

Internally, the watch is powered by the same MT5813 chrono movement used in the rest of the Black Bay Chrono family.

More Motorsport Details

The “racing white” dome dial, alongside other red and blue colored dial elements, is an obvious nod to the livery of Red Bull Racing. Still, other more subtle details acknowledge the brand relationship further.

The hybrid leather-rubber strap included with the watch includes a “tire pattern.”

The case back also features an engraving of the F1 car and a numeric engraving acknowledging the limited edition nature of the piece.

Only 2,025 Black Bay Chronograph “Carbon 25” examples will be made, which is in line with Tudor’s past moves of releasing partnership watches in limited quantities.

Priced at a Premium

Anyone remotely familiar with carbon fiber knows that the miracle material isn’t cheap.

Who knows if material costs alone are responsible for the increase, but the Black Bay Chronograph “Carbon 25” retails for $7,575, representing a significant price hike over the stainless steel Black Bay Chronograph’s starting price point of $5,775.

It’s also more expensive than Tudor’s carbon composite Pelagos FXD Cycling and Pelagos FXD Chrono, though it’s worth emphasizing that neither of those references is a limited edition.

In the larger context of the carbon fiber watch market, though, the “Carbon 25” could be fairly considered more in the middle of the price spectrum.

Building a Lead

Overall, there’s a lot to like about the Black Bay Chronograph “Carbon 25”, especially for motorsport fans – even of other teams.

The color scheme of white, blue, and black is eye-catching and pretty universal in its appeal, especially for anyone looking for a lightweight yet tough sports watch for summer adventures.

It also joins a family with eye-catching Flamingo Blue and Miami Pink versions.

Taken alongside those other releases, it’s safe to say that Tudor’s Black Bay Chrono has quickly become one of the most on-trend and stylistically distinct chronograph families on the market right now.

Tudor Black Back Chrono “Carbon 25”

Unveiled at the 2025 Miami Grand Prix, the Black Back Chrono “Carbon 25” follows in the footsteps of Tudor’s Chrono Pink and Flamingo Blue releases. The latest edition of the Black Bay Chrono family features a carbon fiber case and matching one-piece carbon fiber tachymeter bezel; even sub-counters and end links are fashioned from carbon fiber. Tudor also opted for a case that measures 42mm by 13.3mm — meaning it’s wider but thinner than the stainless-steel version.
