Airstream might be known for its signature, stainless-steel bullet-shaped trailers. But it’s also making a name for itself in the camper van space.

Enter the all-new Rangeline 21PL. It’s Airstream’s latest addition to the company’s lineup of affordable camper vans, which launched in 2022.

Now, the latest 21PL takes the firm’s ingenuity and top-shelf camper experience and sets a new benchmark in interior flexibility and versatility.

A budget-friendly camper van that also boasts brilliance

Camper vans may be one of the best all-in-one experiences money can buy, short of dumping a home value’s worth of money on a big, bulky RV. And they are certainly a lot more convenient than having to deal with any sort of trailer.

But they still do come with some compromises. Especially when it comes to setting up camp or arranging the van to make your home-away-from-home. Camper vans still require a ton of setup before one can sit back, relax and enjoy the views.

The Rangeline 21PL aims to make the camper van life easier and more budget-friendly thanks to its innovative interior configurability. It does it all without any complex or expensive modifications, like a pop-up rooftop.

Perhaps, the most easily configurable camper van yet

On the outside, the Rangeline 21PL looks like your typical Ram ProMaster-based camper van with the usual Airstream treatment. But the interior is where the Rangeline 21PL really shines.

The Rangeline 21PL boasts a Euro-style camper van interior arrangement, featuring rear-placed beds and a completely versatile interior with all the usual camper van amenities.

But Airstream’s engineers went a few steps further, as the 21PL features a level of flexibility unlike any other camper van of this caliber.

For instance, the Rangeline 21PL boasts a new four-way L-track rail mounting system on the floor, which allows occupants to position the rear seats depending on their needs. When ready to get some shut-eye, the rear seats slide forward, providing extra rear space for the integrated bed system.

Said bed drops down from the van’s ceiling, thanks to its own vertical sliding rail system. The result is a dual-full-size bunk, which can sleep up to four occupants in total.

Once occupants are ready to mobilize, the 21PL’s bed can be raised to open up the rear space of the van. This allows users to then reposition the rear passenger seats into a forward-facing for use when driving.

The best part is that the seats are also child-safety-compatible for booster seats and fully belted for the utmost protection.

Availability and pricing

Airstream says the Rangeline 21PL will be arriving at dealers in the coming months. Pricing starts at around $173,400, which is around $12,000 more than the original Rangeline model.
