Christopher Ward has clearly chosen the Twelve as its preferred canvas for unbridled artistic expression.

While I’m over here still gawking at the beautiful collaboration with Chris “The Dial Artist” Alexander, released earlier this month, the British watchmaker unveiled an even more audacious piece of arm candy (pun intended).

The Twelve Pic’n’Mix is a special edition set of six watches featuring a crystalline dial plate inspired by rock candy and other sweet treats. There are six colors, each dedicated to a classic flavor, accented with a vertical fade from light at 12:00 to dark at 6:00.

The dial isn’t the only treat provided by the Pic’n’Mix. It comes in a 36mm case made of Grade 2 titanium, a combination that Christopher Ward doesn’t offer in the regular Twelve lineup.

It is the standard Twelve case, featuring a 12-sided bezel, fluted screw-down crown with exposed screws in the crown guard and a flat sapphire crystal. The case is exceptionally slim at just 9mm tall.

This is a time-only variation of the Twelve, creating minimal disruption of the shimmering, vibrantly-colored dial.

I want candy

Christopher Ward’s new saccharine dial motif looks like a colorful container of tiny sugar crystals flattened out under a handset and indices. The texture is enhanced with a degradé fade that adds shading and depth.

The six colors have playful, candy-inspired names: Blue Shubert, Kola Krystals, Apple Sour, Cherry Pop, Orange Fiz and Berry Burst.

Everything other than the dial plate follows the standard Twelve blueprint. The Alpha hands and matching applied indices are brushed and filled with white Super-LumiNova inserts.

Christopher Ward’s flag logo sits below 12:00, and the “Chronometer” wordmark is printed above 6:00.

The only other variation from form is on the reverse side of the “sapphire sandwich,” where the view through the exhibition caseback is obscured by a large, colorful Pic’n’Mix graphic.

Hidden below the printed graphic is a Chronometer-grade Sellita Caliber SW300-1 b automatic movement. This is the top-grade, sans-date variation, which beats at 4Hz and provides a 56-hour power reserve.

Two-4-One

Christopher Ward offers one more treat with the Twelve Pic’n’Mix, an additional strap. Along with the rubber strap, which is color-matched to each dial and fastened with a titanium folding clasp, the watch comes with a Twelve titanium Y-link bracelet.

The bracelet is not only more functional, in my opinion, but it also tones down the vibrant color of the dial, making it a bit more palatable.

Availability and pricing

If you’ve got a sweet tooth for eye-catching watches that don’t compromise functionality, you’d better move quickly on the Twelve Pic’n’Mix. All six colors are limited to 50 pieces each, so this treat won’t last for long.

The Twelve Pic’n’Mix is available now from Christopher Ward for $2,350, with both straps included.
