Easymoc and Huckberry go way back.

Greg Cordeiro, Easymoc’s founder and design director, worked as a designer for Huckberry before going solo, and the online retailer was one of the first outlets to sell Easymoc. Which is why the new collaboration with Huckberry’s flagship in-house brand, Flint and Tinder, feels so natural, with the two brands bringing out the best in each other.

Huckberry

At its core, Easymoc is a group of skilled craftsmen turning out some of the best American-made footwear in a small workshop in Lewiston, Maine. The hands-on, bench-made nature of the business allows the brand to experiment with a wide range of top-shelf leathers and Vibram outsoles.

The brand has mastered a core set of models, including the original slip-on Easymoc, a classic Camp Moc and the jaw-dropping Rangely, that are continuously remixed with new materials.

This collaboration tackles the Camp Scout, a variation of Easymoc’s best-selling Scout Boot. It replaces the boot’s leather midsole and heeled outsole with a rubber Vibram Camp Sole, enhancing flexibility and ground feel.

Pup tent

The key feature of this collaboration is the canvas quarter panels, which are made from vintage 1940s US Military pup tents. The olive drab pure cotton canvas comes with decades of patina baked in, meaning no two boots, let alone pairs, look identical.

The canvas is waxed before being cut to add water resistance and durability.

Born in the USA

Aside from the tent canvas panels, this is a standard Easymoc Camp Scout. The upper is made with chocolate-brown Crazy Horse leather from Milwaukee’s Seidel Tanning Corp.

The leather panels are hand-cut, stitched on vintage machines and finished with traditional handsewn moccasin stitching. On this boot, the handsewn details stand out with white thread.

Along with the American-made leather and salvaged canvas, the rawhide laces, threads and solid brass eyelets are produced domestically.

The Camp Scout Boot is built like a traditional moccasin, meaning the upper wraps under the foot and is sewn directly to the solid outsole, with no midsole added. This enhances overall flexibility and allows the entire upper to mold to your foot like a pair of leather gloves.

Availability and pricing

The Flint and Tinder x Easymoc Camp Scout Boot is available now, exclusively from Huckberry, for $398. Due to the scarcity of surviving 1940s US Military tents, this is a very limited run that likely won’t be produced again.
