British brands have long reigned supreme in the world of waxed canvas. Barbour, Belstaff, and the lesser-known Peregrine have made some of the best examples for generations.
But an American brand made a strong push to outperform them all in 2025, and — I know what you’re probably thinking — it’s not Filson.

As excellent as the Seattle-based outfitter is, a far younger brand broke into the top tier of the waxy ranks by offering a wide variety and impressive affordability. Flint and Tinder, the flagship in-house brand of online retailer Huckberry, expanded its catalog in 2025 to become one of the most robust purveyors of the weather-resistant textile.
Along with adding three distinct new models to its permanent collection, the Austin-based label kept its two most popular jackets fresh with one of the coolest camos I came across all year.
The Waxed Trucker remains the brand’s marquee product, both in outerwear and beyond. But from the Barbour-inspired Hudson Jacket to the Carhartt-beating Waxed Mill Jacket, the brand has something for everyone, and it is all of impeccable quality.
