Nike has little left to prove on the road and track, where numerous world records have fallen to its array of super shoes. But the brand doesn’t demand the same respect on the trails, where Hoka, Salomon and dozens of upstarts thrive.

That could be changing …

Earlier this year, American distance runner Caleb Olson broke the Transgrancanaria Classic course record wearing a pair of ACG prototypes, while his mysterious running top at Western States (easily America’s most prestigious trail race) nearly overshadowed his historic win.

Now Nike’s outdoorsy subdivision think it can be your go-to hiking brand, and it might have a point in the ACG Zoom Gaiadome.

Hot on the trail

First released in 2022, the rugged trail-ready silhouette is back in force for fall and winter, thanks to a graphic treatment that equips the boot with camo-adjacent uppers.

Like previous iterations of the ACG Zoom Gaiadome, the technical appearance is underscored by a score of impressive specs and features you’d expect on any boot worth its weight.

Gore-Tex lining dutifully serves as a waterproof barrier for mud and snow, while padding around the ankle adds stability and protection against trail debris.

The boot also comes with something Nike called TrailFrame — effectively a hard plastic cage that locks the foot in place on uneven terrain — and Air Zoom cushioning for comfort.

Finally, metal eyelets and three-pronged lugs complete the formidable package.

Availability and pricing

The ACG Zoom Gaiadome has yet to appear on Nike’s official Stateside website. However, the boot has already surfaced overseas with a price equivalent of $230. A US release is expected in the coming weeks.
