The main question surrounding Nike’s new shoe isn’t why the brand made it but what took so long.

Four decades in, the Pegasus remains Nike’s most trusted daily trainer across the globe, a true do-it-all workhorse for easy runs, workouts and even races.

Just forget that thing you heard about old dogs and new tricks.

The upcoming Pegasus 1 Golf sees the well-known running shoe transform into spiked silhouette for an entirely new sport.

And frankly, the crossover feels long overdue.

For the midsole, Nike recycles the Cushlon foam of previous Pegasus models but pairs it with ReactX for up-to-speed specs.

Surprisingly, it swaps out a sculpted Air Zoom unit, probably the defining characteristic of the recently released Pegasus 42, for stability-focused side plates.

That said, a golf swing and running stride are significantly different movements, so it should come as some assurance that the brand didn’t just slap some spikes on a running shoe and call it a day.

There are also integrated forefoot spikes and molded heel for added traction.

Things translate a little more one to one on the upper, where a padded, dove-tail collar results in a snug fit for all-day comfort on the course.
