A few months ago, the multi-tool mavens at Leatherman dropped some killer new colorways of the brand’s best camping multi-tool, the Signal. Those in the know will remember that they weren’t just lookers, either; they had substance, to boot.

Now, the brand has given a similar treatment to its most advanced EDC multi-tool. The Leatherman Arc Talos elevates an already exceptional multi-tool to new heights.

Like its predecessor, the Leatherman Arc Talos boasts a whopping 20+ integrated functions.

Robust bestie

Put plainly, the Leatherman Arc was already a beast of a multi-tool. Not only does it have 20+ integrated functions, but they’re made from 420 stainless steel, as is the tool’s frame.

The robust array features needlenoise pliers as the tool’s centerpiece, enhanced with replaceable wire cutters and hard-wire cutters. Other tools include classics old and new, like a bit driver, bottle opener, saw, scissors and many more.

But perhaps the most significant feature — a first for Leatherman, as well as the larger multi-tool industry — is the Arc’s MagnaCut steel knife blade. This addition really boosted the Arc well above similarly outfitted tools, including Leatherman’s own, and into the grail multi-tool conversation.

Wait; that’s not all! The impressive tool boasts all of this, as well as the brand’s Free technology — meaning every single tool opens smoothly and, more importantly, is wholly one-hand operable.

Of course, the Arc Talos still sports the original model’s banner feature: a MagnaCut knife blade.

Cerakote of arms

It remains to be said that all of the aforementioned features in the previous section already existed in the Leatherman Arc. So what sets the Talos apart? A couple of things, actually.

First, and most apparently, it gets a new brown colorway. This is the only alternative colorway for the tool. The original — and the only other one available — is silver with black highlights, including the blade’s DLC coating (which extends to parts of the handle and the pocket clip).

Not only does the Leatherman Arc Talos look great, but it’s actually more robust overall.

Second (and more importantly), that colorway is the result of a new treatment on the handle. Like the Signal before it, the Arc Talos gets a Cerakote finish.

A thin ceramic layer applied to the tool’s handle, this finish adds extra durability, corrosion resistance and even resistance to temperature swings. That means, not only does the Leatherman Arc Talos look great, but it’s actually more robust overall.
