Klipsch is bringing its famed hi-fi sound to your back patio.

The legendary American audio manufacturer has announced a new surround sound speaker system specifically designed for the outdoors. It’s called the Courtyard Landscape Speaker System.

Each Courtyard satellite speaker features a 1-inch tweeter and 4-inch woofer.

Horn-loaded

Klipsch’s Courtyard Landscape Speaker System is a 4.1-channel system consisting of four horn-loaded satellite speakers and a low-profile subwoofer.

The system is expandable. Klipsch sells a two-pack of additional satellite speakers. You can also combine two of these Courtyard Landscape Speaker Systems to, according to the brand, “create the ultimate 8.2 outdoor system.”

Outdoor seating area with three black woven chairs, each with a light-colored cushion, arranged around a small fire pit with burning logs. The ground is covered with small gravel, and there are two green ceramic side tables, one holding a glass of water and a small bowl of snacks. The background features tall grasses, white hydrangea flowers, and a dark wooden fence, with soft sunlight filtering through the trees.

Each Courtyard satellite speaker features a 1-inch tweeter and 4-inch woofer, and is designed with the same Tractrix horn technology and design principles that Klipsch uses its premium loudspeaker lines.

The 10-inch subwoofer is unique because it can be placed above ground or partially buried, the latter of which allows you to better disguise it. Klipsch hasn’t specified which of the two placements sounds better.

The system is expandable, too, to accommodate those with larger outdoor spaces.

External amplification required

Klipsch’s Courtyard Landscape is a passive — not powered — speaker system, and thus requires external amplification. According to the brand, you can connect it to a multi-zone AV receiver or streaming amplifier.

Naturally, the satellite speakers and subwoofer are designed tough. They have an IPX7 rating and are designed to easily handle exposure to rain, snow, and direct sunlight. Each has a colorfast brown matte finish, which should help them blend better in your yard.

A dark brown outdoor storage box or seat is placed on a wooden deck in front of a large rectangular rust-colored planter filled with various green plants and flowers. The background features a wooden fence with warm string lights, and there are small rocks and a tree on the right side. The scene is illuminated with warm lighting, creating a cozy atmosphere.
The subwoofer can be positioned above ground or partially buried (see below).

Klipsch says that the Courtyard system comes with all necessary accessories — hammer-friendly caps, silicone wire nuts, and an Allen wrench — for a hassle-free setup.

So long as you have the necessary amplification, the system should be “ready to rock straight out of the box.”

Klipsch’s new outdoor system will be available in September 2025.
