Triangle Just Gave Its Beloved Hi-Fi Speakers a Beautiful and Timeless Upgrade

The French loudspeaker specialist has given its popular speaker system a stunning new look.

In January of this year, Triangle introduced the Capella 2, a second-generation version of its 2024-released wireless speaker system. It features a pair of active bookshelf speakers and a separate streaming hub (which houses all its wireless and wired connections). The system costs $3,500.

If that’s too rich for your blood, the French loudspeaker specialist offers a more affordable active wireless speaker system: the AIO Twin. Introduced in 2021, it’s almost as versatile and just as easy to set up, and it brings the company’s signature sound to a sub-$1,000 price point.

As of today, Triangle has announced that it’s releasing its AIO Twin speaker system in a new finish: Macassar.

An ever-changing wood veneer

The new Macassar finish is inspired by Macassar ebony, an Indonesian hardwood known for its dark brown color and striking golden-yellow stripes. Additionally, the finish is unique because its appearance changes with the room’s lighting or your viewing angle.

Triangle claims “its interpretation on the AIO Twin reveals a vertical grain in which fine lines with golden highlights run through a rich, dark brown base, creating a natural contrast of great elegance.”

Like existing AIO Twin systems, Triangle will ship the new Macassar speakers with matching oblong grilles (which the company is known for) made by Gabriel, an iconic Scandinavian fabric company. It claims the brown grilles complement “the warm tones of the wood veneer, while adding a contemporary touch to the overall design.”

Of course, these grilles are optional. If you want to see the exposed drivers, these magnetic grilles can easily be popped off.

At under $1,000, the AIO Twin is one of the brand’s more entry-level active speaker systems.

Active speakers, extreme versatility

Aside from the new look, the AIO Twin is the same active speaker system as before. It consists of two bookshelf-sized speakers, with one being active (which houses all the amplification and connections) and one being passive.

Each speaker has a two-way design that pairs a 1-inch silk dome tweeter and a 5-inch mid-woofer. And the system is capable of outputting 100 watts of power.

Like many of today’s active speaker systems, Triangle’s AIO Twin is also incredibly versatile.

On the wireless side, it supports high-resolution streaming over Wi-Fi (up to 24-bit/192kHz). And it also supports Bluetooth, which gives guests a simply want to stream without having to connect to your home’s network.

On the wired side, the AIO Twin has both digital and analog inputs. It has a switchable MM phono preamplifier, so you can connect the speakers directly to a turntable. There’s an AUX jack, so you can use them as computer speakers. And, thanks to an optical connection, you can even use them as TV speakers.

Availability and pricing

Triangle’s AIO Twin speaker system in the new Macassar finish is available now from the company’s website. It costs $899, the same as other models in traditional finishes.
