We Knife is one of the most prolific knife brands today. The company seems to launch a new collection of bladed tools every week, yet its designs and quality are always top-notch.

The latest in the brand’s increasingly deep catalog comes in collaboration with a prolific, legendary knife designer. In fact, even its name is a play on his: behold, the We Knife Co. Tighe Down.

Hero complex

One of Tighe’s signatures is his unique blade shapes and grinds. This We Knife collaboration continues in that tradition. Three of the four configurations have the same blade shape — recurve — and the fourth is a bit of an outlier — tanto.

However, even with the differing edges, these blades share much in common. For instance, all four have a harpoon-style spine, with a divot that starts just beyond the thumb studs and a ramp back up at about the halfway point.

The knife has a curved shape with a visible clip on one side and a decorative blue circular pivot near the handle end. The blade is partially visible, folded into the handle, and the handle has a small signature or engraving near the bottom.
The knife’s handle is made from solid titanium with a carbon fiber inlay.

While being stylistically interesting, this also offers a place to put one’s thumb to exert more pressure on the edge when making tougher cuts, similar to jimping found on other knives.

The blades also have the same complex grind and, critically, are all crafted from Böhler M390, a beloved high-end super steel. They also all have integrated flipper deployments for speedy access.

Titanium integration

The multifaceted blade is a clear eye-catcher, but the handle of the Tighe Down is no slouch either — although it is less immediately apparent as to why.

For starters, it has a button lock — one of the trendiest and most convenient lock types of recent days. It also has a carbon fiber inlay and a vibrant Timascus pivot collar across all four configurations.

As this is an integral folder, the handle is made from a single, solid piece of titanium.

However, the most interesting part of it is its construction. The core handle is made from solid titanium. And it’s not a pair of scales over a frame; this is an integral handle, meaning its handle, both sides, are made from a single, unbroken piece of material.

While it’s not necessarily novel, this is still quite an achievement, and it means the knife has fewer moving parts that might necessitate maintenance or could break.

Additional details include an ergonomic grip, a titanium pocket clip and a lanyard attachment point toward the butt.

The Timascus pivot cap is a nice, eye-catching touch that helps further set this knife apart.
