It is 2026, yet there’s a new Jackass movie right on the horizon. However, if the title (Jackass: Best and Last) is anything to be believed, this will actually be the final entry in the comedy stunt series.

But that also means some new beginnings are just over the horizon. For instance, one of the stars of that movie has another venture in the pocket knife world that was just unveiled, as well. And while it might sound odd on a surface level, it actually makes perfect sense.

Chris Pontius, also known as “Party Boy,” has teamed up with renowned knifemaking brand GiantMouse on the aptly named Ace Pontius EDC knife.

Ace in the hole

Chris Pontius is no stranger to bladed tools. In fact, he has an extensive collection (as can be seen in his 2023 interview with GiantMouse). The point is, this isn’t just some random celebrity endorsement; he genuinely loves knives and has a deep knowledge of the space.

It’s something he takes very seriously, in stark contrast to his Jackass persona. As such (and despite his penchant for comedy), this collaboration, his first design with GiantMouse, is anything but a joke.

In fact, this knife is pretty spectacular from tip to tail across its three available configurations. It certainly doesn’t hurt that GiantMouse is similarly serious about making knives. More so, the brand is known for exceptionally high-quality offerings.

Interestingly, this project is being funded through Kickstarter. As this is a first for Pontius, the crowdfunding approach is also a first for GiantMouse. That said, it has already smashed its $10,000 goal, even though it only launched this morning.

But it’s easy to see why, once you take a look at this beautiful blade, its specs, materials and mechanisms.

Debut blade

The GiantMouse Ace Pontius measures 7.7 inches in total, which is on the larger side, but still fits within acceptable sizing for an EDC knife. Depending on which configuration you choose, it weighs between 3.7 and 4.7 ounces, which is also well within reason for daily carry.

The blade is a clear highlight. While it has a silhouette and some features that resemble other GiantMouse designs, it also differs in some ways. Namely, it’s a somewhat unusual shape: a harpoon, as noted by the ramp toward the midpoint of the spine.

Functionally, however, it’s similar to a drop point in terms of versatility (if not even more so, as the spine ramp creates a spot to catch your thumb when exerting downward pressure).

And it benefits from being made from one of the most beloved super steels of the moment, Elmax, making it a top performer across virtually every measurable metric. It also gets GM’s signature finger hole for easy deployment.

On the other end, there are two handle treatments: titanium and G-10 (in black or green). Both get a liner lock, a reversible wire clip and a lanyard attachment point. Furthermore, the handle is ergonomic and boasts a nice guard for a more secure grip.

It’s more than a respectable first knife for Pontius and GM, and it bodes well for their future collaborations, should they continue (and I think they should).

Availability and pricing

The GiantMouse Ace Pontius went up on Kickstarter this morning, June 5. As of this article, it is already fully funded. But there’s still plenty of time to back the project yourself and score one of these knives, starting at $230.
