Far more than just a style upgrade, these slip-ons are perfect for hanging around the campfire on chilly fall and winter nights.

As wildly popular as they are, it would be a mistake to try to classify Crocs Classic Clogs as cold-weather-friendly footwear. Unfortunately, their very nature — due to their open back and perforated upper — makes them more suitable for spring to summer.

But loyalists need not fret once the mercury starts to drop; the brand has options. One of its latest, the Crocs Realtree APX Classic Lined Shorty, is a stylish camouflage option ideal for when there’s a chill in the air. For some folks, they might just be the perfect campground slippers.

The Realtree camo gives these clogs a big style boost, but the other upgrades are even more significant.

Can’t see the forest for the trees

Let’s start with the elephant in the room: the biggest, most obvious upgrade to these slip-ons is their colorway. Made in collaboration with Realtree, these clogs get an upper completely wrapped in realistic woodland camo.

It’s funny, really, that the thing that helps them stand out the most is a colorway designed to blend in. But what’s also interesting is that the camouflage actually does a decent job of drawing the eye away from some of the shoes’ other upgrades.

For instance, you might notice that there are no perforations in the upper. That means you’re at less risk of any moisture getting in, helping your feet stay more cozy and dry.

You might have also missed that these clogs have a bit of extra height. While their outsole is already somewhat outdoor-friendly, the extra height of the midsole means you’re higher above any soggy, muddy or otherwise wet terrain.

The higher back protects better from inclement weather, unlike the classic mule-style clog with the back strap.

Slippin’ and a slidin’

Despite the added height and lack of perforations, these clogs are still very lightweight. That’s because, like their siblings, they’re made from Croslite foam.

That also means they’re extremely easy to clean. They’re waterproof, so if they get muddy, you can simply give them a rinse. You’ll just want to be careful around the collar, for obvious reasons.

The grippy outsole lends itself well to outdoor wear, like backyards, campsites and more.

Since these aren’t classic clogs, they lack the classic back strap. Again, this is better for cold-weather wear, as it means your foot is more enveloped, courtesy of a higher heel.

More critically, however, is the interior lining. As you can plainly see, the interior of the clogs is enveloped in thick, fuzzy sherpa material. That means these slip-ons are super cozy, even when there’s frost on the foliage. It also means they retain that heat better than their siblings.

Yet, they’re still just as easy to wear, benefiting from a back strap that makes pulling them on a cinch. If you’re in need of some campground-ready slippers, don’t sleep on these.

You might notice there aren’t any holes in these clogs, meaning they capture heat and protect against moisture much better.
