Crocs were invented all the way back in 2002. Since then, they’ve had a unique trajectory into perennial popularity and even stylishness. Whatever your opinion, there’s no denying their cultural relevance.

They’ve also seen some unique interpretations, including a recent foray into trail running, ones with a Vibram outsole and many more.

The most iconic version just got a long-awaited upgrade that retains its signature styling, comfort and affordability, while adding a bit more all-terrain capability. It’s called the Crocs Classic Evo Clog.

For the most part, this shoe remains true to the design of the original Classic Clog.

What a Croc!

One of the best things about these particular clogs is that they’re largely true to the original Crocs Classic Clogs. It’s a formula that has worked brilliantly over the last couple of decades, even if somewhat incidentally, but it’s become something folks now actively seek out.

By remaining true to the classic styling and even materials, this shoe bridges the gap between some of the brand’s more off-the-wall designs (like the Echo Ro Clogs) that were perhaps a bit too polarizing, even for Crocs fans.

As always, the Croslite foam upper is lightweight, waterproof, easy to clean and ventilated with the brand’s signature perforations (which also support Jibbitz charms).

That means you get the same classic Croslite foam upper with its signature perforations (which remain Jibbitz charm-compatible for some additional styling and personalization). It’s lightweight, waterproof, easy to clean and ventilated for breathability.

The shoe also retains the signature convertible mule styling with that classic back strap, so you can swap between comfort and sport modes. Yet, there’s one big difference that can be gleaned at a glance …

Camp casual

The one stylistic deviation between this shoe and the original Classic Clog is the speckled outsole (and the matching styling on the back strap). Interestingly, this goes some of the way toward hinting at the performance difference, as well.

That speckled material that goes around the outsole isn’t Croslite foam, like the rest of the shoe. Rather, it’s grippy, treaded all-terrain rubber. That means these Crocs are a good deal more stable on uneven, rocky ground than their more traditional siblings.

The speckled rubber around the outsole adds extra tread and grip, in addition to elevating the styling.

The implication is that these clogs are better for outdoor adventures of all sorts than Classic Clogs. And that could make them the perfect campground footwear. Hell, if you’re really dedicated to wearing Crocs, you could get away with wearing them for light hiking activities.

But the best part is that this grippy addition doesn’t push these shoes out of the realm of affordability. While not quite as affordable as the $50 classics, these upgraded clogs are only $10 more, bringing them to just $60. (For reference, the Echo Ro clogs start at $75, so this is a much more affordable option.)
