Amongst the two-wheeled cognoscenti, it’s no secret that Honda’s CB1000 Hornet SP is one helluva street fighter.

Vivacious, versatile and relatively affordable, the bike has largely delivered on the hype since its debut earlier this year.

Considering the standard edition only comes in black, the 5Four treatment is pretty dang colorful.

However, that hasn’t stopped a renowned British builder and a London-area motorcycle dealership from teaming back up to see if they could do it one better.

From the looks of the brand-new limited-edition Honda CB1000 Hornet SP 5Four, they have succeeded in that quest.

Style for miles

To get more specific here, the builder is the legendary Guy Willison’s 5Four Motorcycles, and the dealer is Coulsdon, England-based Doble Motorcycles.

The track record is promising, as these two outfits absolutely nailed a CB1000R treatment a few years ago.

The hand-stitched leather on the seat and rear pad is a significant step up from the stock model’s rather bland saddle.

This follow-up is equally stirring, thanks to a number of aftermarket modifications.

Perhaps most notable is candy red, blue and pearl white “endurance-inspired paintwork,” complemented by a hand-painted Honda logo and Willison’s signature on the tank.

Each of the 54 examples also gets a hand-stitched diamond-leather seat and rear pad, a high-rise tail tidy and an LED rear light.

Such tweaks are not to be outdone by some not-so-heavy metals, including billet aluminum brake and clutch levers and a Racefit titanium exhaust with laser-etched 5Four and Racefit logos.

Same great specs

Thankfully, these dazzling aesthetic upgrades do not interfere with the bike’s performance, which industry insiders laud as exemplary

As the name suggests, driving the action is a 1,000cc four-banger, which in the Euro trim makes 155 horsepower at 11,000 rpm and 78.9 lb.-ft. of peak torque at 9000 rpm.

Braking is handled by Brembo Stylema calliper grips and dual-floating 310mm discs up front and a Nissin single-piston calliper and 240mm single disc in the back.

Suspension is equally reliable thanks to Showa, with 41mm USD SFF-BP front forks providing 118mm of travel, complemented by a rear monoshock, Pro-Link swingarm offering 138mm of travel.

If there is a downside here, beyond the extremely limited availability, it’s that the value proposition isn’t quite what it is in the stock model, which starts at an incredibly tempting $10,999.

This bike comes in closer to, ahem, Doble that amount, leaving potential buyers to debate whether all the future double-taking is worth it.

Availability and pricing

The Honda CB1000 Hornet SP 5Four is available exclusively from Doble Motorcycles for £15,454, equivalent to roughly $20,815 USD.
