Tivoli Audio is well known for its vintage-inspired wireless speakers and tabletop radios. And these days, the Boston-based audio company offers them in a wide range of sizes and prices.

In recent months, Tivoli has released new and improved versions of several of its most popular speakers … and now it’s the PAL BT’s turn.

Originally released in 2012, the PAL BT is a small portable Bluetooth speaker and a tabletop AM/FM radio. (It’s actually a new-age version of the brand’s original PAL, which was released in 2000 and lacked Bluetooth streaming capabilities.)

The 2025 iteration of the PAL BT retains the same vintage charm as its predecessors. It’s a compact box with simple analog controls for radio, source and volume. It’s also water-resistant, so it’s suitable for taking outdoors.

Inside, the two-pound speaker packs a full-range neodymium driver that’s powered by a 45-watt Class D amplifier. It also features a 56-bit DSP processor and 24-bit DAC, which the brand claims allows it to deliver a dynamic sound that’s get louder than you’d think.

In addition to its built-in radio and Bluetooth streaming, the PAL BT also features an AUX input for wired sources, as well as a dedicated headphone output.

As for what Tivoli Audio actually improved with the new model … that primarily comes down to three things: battery life, charging and aesthetics.

The new speakers promise up to 14 hours of playtime, which is two more hours than the previous model. It also supports faster charging over USB-C, promising to go from zero to 100% in 2.5 hours.

Most notably, the PAL BT comes in five matte colors: white, black, grey, blue and red. So you’ve got options.

Price and availability

Tivoli Audio’s PAL BT costs $220 and is available for preorder now. Shipping is expected to start in the next few weeks.

For those looking into the vibe of the PAL BT, but not looking to drop that much on a small portable speaker, you can get the previous-gen model from Tivoli Audio and third-party sellers (like Amazon) for significantly less.
