Adidas launched the Free Hiker in early 2019, and since then, the hiking shoe that seamlessly mixes urban styling with trail-ready tech has remained popular, with several new versions released since.

While each of those iterations had its own unique feature set, none have been as burly or winter-ready as the brand’s latest version, which takes this comfort-forward hiking shoe to burly new heights.

This all-black version of the Free Hiker will fit right in on city streets, but don’t be fooled: that modern exterior is hiding some serious winter-ready materials.

The sleek upper shell is constructed using Climawarm+, Adidas’s proprietary advanced insulation material that keeps feet warm in cold and wet conditions by trapping heat while simultaneously wicking away moisture.

The sleek strap and zipper combo make this hiking shoe easy to slip on and off.
