To date, Bang & Olufsen has offered two different Dolby Atmos soundbars — both of which combine premium design and sound, as well as carry a price tag significantly higher than flagship models by the likes of Sonos, Bose, Sony and Samsung.

The headliner is the Beosound Theatere, a gorgeous mid-century-inspired soundbar with 12 custom drivers and capable of outputting a whopping 800 watts of power. It starts at a cool $13,600.

If that’s been too rich for your blood, B&O has also offered the Beosound Stage, a smaller yet still beautifully designed soundbar that starts at $3,500.

Fast forward to today and the venerable Danish hi-fi manufacturer is adding a third Dolby Atmos soundbar to its lineup. It falls between the brand’s previous options in terms of price. But in terms of design, well, this new model is in a league all of its own.

Danish hi-fi, sculptural design

The Beosound Premiere is a Dolby Atmos soundbar that’s more or less a piece of art. It has a three-dimensional design that, unlike most traditional soundbars, is meant to show off its unique driver array rather than hide it.

“[The] Beosound Premiere transcends the conventional soundbar,” according to Kristian Teär, the brand’s CEO. “It’s a sculptural masterpiece and a bold expression of acoustic artistry. Sculpted from our signature aluminum, it embodies Bang & Olufsen’s century-long heritage of pioneering audio innovation in harmony with timeless design.”

The Beosound Premiere has an aluminum chassis that’s been pearl blasted to create a matte satin finish. As far as this finish, B&O offers the soundbar in three options: Natural Aluminum, Gold Tone or Black Anthracite.

Additionally, when purchasing, you can choose between interchangeable grill covers in either fabric (grey melange) or wood (oak or dark oak), the latter of which is made from a single piece of wood.

With the cover, the only driver that remains uncovered is the central up-firing tweeter.

10 drivers, 580-watt power

As far as the driver array, the Beosound Premiere has been decked out with ten custom-engineered, individually-amplified drivers that fire sound in all directions: front, sides and upwards.

In total, the soundbar packs 580 watts of power.

Out of all the drivers, the up-firing tweeter is the standout. Located right at the center of the soundbar, it’s, according to the brand, “designed to capture the eye like a jewel through turned aluminum.”

Additionally, the tweeter’s grille features 1,925 precisely machined perforations, designed to honor the year Bang & Olufsen was founded.

Room-filling sound

To match its three-dimensional design, the Beosound Premiere has been engineered to deliver high-fidelity three-dimensional sound. It supports the brand’s latest Wide Stage Technology, which uses advanced signal processing to deliver a wider and more immersive sound than you’d expect from an all-in-one soundbar.

The press release reads: “Through this new technology, all ten drivers work together to deliver a spacious, room-filling soundstage that can convey dialogue with crystal clear clarity and create breathtaking soundscapes for music and film.”

That said, for those looking to build an even more immersive-sounding home theater — which, given that you’re spending several thousand bucks on a soundbar, you’re likely to do — B&O has got you covered.

The Beosound Premiere supports the brand’s Beolink Sound technology, which allows you to designate the brand’s other wireless speakers, like the Beolab 8, as side and rear channels.

When grouped together, the Beosound Premiere can be configured in a full 7.1.4 surround sound system.

A special addition

Additionally, Bang & Olufsen is releasing a special-edition version of the Beosound Premiere called the Haute Edition.

Designed in collaboration with the brand’s Atelier program — which leverages the expertise of the brand’s master artisans — the Haute Edition soundbar features precision-milled, flowing grooves that wrap around the soundbar’s entire chassis.

According to the brand, these grooves catch the light and “convey a sense of energy, movement and depth, enhancing the sensory presence of the product and visually telling the story of sound.”

Because this advanced milling process is so intricate, taking 17 hours to complete, B&O’s Haute Edition will be limited to just 25 units.
