Fosi Audio is an affordable hi-fi manufacturer that seems to be ever-growing in popularity and continues to churn out new gadgets. New to 2026, the company has revealed a compact integrated amplifier, the BT20A Max, for those looking repurpose a pair of passive bookshelf speakers.

According to the brand, the BT20A Max is “well suited for desktop audiophiles, apartment dwellers, and budget-conscious hi-fi enthusiasts seeking strong performance without the size or complexity of a traditional integrated amplifier.”

A compact, maxed out amplifier

At its heart, the BT20A Max is an integrated amplifier designed to power a pair of passive bookshelf speakers. It has a built-in DAC, modern wired connections and support for Bluetooth streaming.

Fosi claims it is the “most advanced” amplifier in its BT20A series, which also consists of the BT20A ($80) and BT20A Pro ($100).

That said, the BT20A Max has amplification capabilities similar to those of the BT20A Pro, which was released in 2023. Both have the same Texas Instruments TPA3255 amplifier chip and are capable of delivering 300 watts per channel (peak) or 180 watts into 4 ohms.

But Fosi has integrated its “Max” amplifier with PFFB (Post-Filter Feedback) technology, which it claims helps it achieve a “ultra-low distortion, high signal-to-noise ratio, and consistent performance across varying speaker loads.”

Higher resolution streaming

There are two other big differences with Fosi’s BT20A Max.

First, it can play higher resolution audio over Bluetooth. It has a more advanced Qualcomm QCC3095 chipset and supports the latest Bluetooth codecs — including aptX, aptX HD, aptX Adaptive, aptX Lossless and LDAC — and can stream audio up to 24-bit/96kHz.

And second, it can support a 2.1-channel system — so you can add a subwoofer. The amplifier features dual RCA inputs, passive speaker terminals and a dedicated subwoofer output. Fosi claims this allows for “easy integration into compact stereo or desktop setups.”

The amplifier features a selectable high-pass filter at 80 Hz that, according to the brand, improves vocal clarity when paired with a subwoofer. It also has controls for adjusting bass and treble, so listeners to fine-tune their audio or preserve the original signal path.

Price and availability

The Fosi Audio BT20A Max is available now through the company’s official website. It costs $230.
