Adidas kicked off 2026 with the introduction of a retro-inspired slim sneaker — which, at first glance, doesn’t sound all that different from the wave of brands doubling down on ’70s-inspired styles.

But considering that the pair in question is a hybrid Mary Jane that ditches laces in favor of a novel elastic closure, the release felt significant (and made significant waves).

Now, just ahead of spring and warmer weather, the Three Stripes has debuted two new iterations of the trending silhouette

Spring forward

The original Adidas Tokyo MJ, modeled after the Adidas Tokyo sneaker that made its debut at the 1964 Tokyo Olympics as a competitive track shoe, came in two colorways: a timeless black and creamy white colorway and a more bold off-white and red alternative.

The two new iterations step boldly away from those more traditional options and embrace the hues of spring and summer: a soft blue and pink with earthy overlays.

The Crystal Sky / Cream White / Gold Metallic is almost icy in its springtime approach, while the Sandy Pink / Earth Strata / Gold Metallic is a warmer take.

Both new versions embrace pastels that nicely complement a warmer weather wardrobe.

The fresh additions to the Tokyo MJ lineup continue to feature the novel elastic closure, textile upper and synthetic lining of the original. And like the pair that debuted earlier this year, these new editions fall below the $100 mark.

Availability and pricing

The Tokyo MJ in Crystal Sky/Cream White/Gold Metallic and Sandy Pink/Earth Strata/Gold Metallic are both available now on Adidas’s website, retailing for just $90.
