The muscle car wars are apparently heating back up again as a next-gen Chevy Camaro reportedly received a green light. Word comes from General Motors enthusiast site, GM Authority, which heard from “sources close to the matter.”
According to the report, GM and Chevy executives gave a seventh-gen model a go for approval. As such, the Ford Mustang and Dodge Charger will get their archrival back, and the iconic American muscle car trifecta will be complete.
However, rumors also suggest the Camaro might not return in the way you think.
Could the world’s first four-door Camaro be in the works?

Firstly, if you had any doubts, don’t worry. The Camaro is retaining its rear-wheel-drive architecture. GM Authority reports the new model will ride on the same next-gen rear-wheel Alpha 2 platform.
That’s the same platform destined to underpin some future gas-powered Cadillac models. This doesn’t sound all too odd as the previous sixth-gen Camaro also used a previous iteration of the Alpha platform.
