One of the Greatest Cars of All Time Appears to Be Making an Unexpected Comeback

Legends like the Lamborghini Miura are typically best left in history, don’t you agree?

Lamborghini could be getting serious about reviving what is perhaps its greatest and most iconic model ever, the Miura. According to TheSupercarBlog, the Italian Raging Bull is supposedly planning to roll out up to four new models throughout 2026.

Many of them will debut at this year’s Pebble Beach Concours d’Elegance in August. But more importantly, one of those models could be a new Miura.

Could it really be?

According to the report, the Italian automaker is apparently looking to revive the Miura nameplate. But specifics aren’t readily available.

Some speculation online suggests it could be a full-on production model. While others suggest it could be an honorary model in homage to the Miura.

Back in 2022, Lamborghini honored the Miura by making a special version of the flagship Aventador LP 780-4 Ultimae as the model’s swansong. It arrived courtesy of Lamborghini’s in-house Ad Personam customization firm.

Given that the Aventador is the Miura’s direct successor, following the OG’s original midship-mounted V12 formula, it made perfect sense. But, it wasn’t a full-fledged Miura standalone model.

The rumor of it being another honorary model could suggest Lamborghini could be doing the same treatment for the newer Revuelto.

The likelihood of a new Miura standalone, however, remains slim. And for good reason, despite there being a new-age concept from the 2000s.

Exciting, or sacrilege?

As one of history’s greatest automotive icons and perhaps Lamborghini’s most cherished historical model, the Miura is often perceived as untouchable.

Untouchable in that, it’s so legendary and iconic, because of how groundbreaking and revolutionary it was, it should be left in the pages of history. Because no modern rendition or mockup could come even close to justifying how impactful the original Miura is.

Since then, Lamborghini has tried only once to revive the Miura as a standalone model. The company built a one-off concept in 2006. But due to a variety of reasons, including pushback, Lamborghini kept it a concept.
