A Renowned Hi-Fi Brand’s Entry-Level Speakers Suddenly Got Way More Affordable

The French audiophile brand is running a rare sale on its most affordable loudspeaker line.

Today, Focal is best known for its elite-level loudspeakers that are pipe dreams for most aspiring audiophiles. As an example, its flagship Utopia III Evo series of loudspeakers can range from $10,000 to nearly $300,000.

But not all of the French hi-fi maker’s loudspeakers are as unattainable. In 2023, Focal introduced its most entry-level loudspeaker range to date. While far from cheap, it offered hi-fi enthusiasts a more affordable way to hear the French brand’s signature sound.

Fast forward to the present, and Focal’s entire Theva range is on sale.

Focal’s most entry-level range

Focal’s Theva range comprises six loudspeaker models that can be configured for either stereo or home theater systems. There’s one bookshelf speaker, three floorstanding speakers, a center channel and a wall-mounted surround sound speaker.

The drivers in each loudspeaker incorporate the brand’s proprietary Slatefiber technology. As explained by Focal, it’s “an exclusive cone known for reproducing a dynamic, rich and balanced sound.”

With the range, the lower the number, the smaller the speaker.

The Theva N°1 is the only bookshelf speaker in the range. It features a two-way design and is compact enough to “fit easily into small spaces.”

The Theva N°2, Theva N°3 and Theva N°3-D are the range’s three floorstanding loudspeakers. All three share a similar 3-way design, but the Theva N°2 has an ultra-slim profile and the Theva N°3-D incorporates up-firing Dolby Atmos modules on top of each speaker.

The Theva Center is a two-way center channel speaker and the Theva Surround is a two-way surround sound speaker. Both are designed for immersive home theater configurations.

Five of the loudspeaker models in the Theva range come in three finishes: Black, Dark Wood and Light Wood. The exception is the Theva Surround, which only comes in Black.

What’s the deal?

Right now, Focal is running a spring sale that shaves 15 percent off the entire Theva range.

This means that the Theva N°1 bookshelf speakers, which normally sell for $1098/pair, are discounted by $160. The Theva N°2 and Theva N°3 floorstanding speakers, which sell for $1,698/pair and $2,198, respectively, are both several hundred dollars off.

The other three speakers, as well as the speaker stands for each, are also being discounted by 15 percent.
