On Cloudcruiser

Run on pavement, the trail and on top of clouds with On’s new running shoes.

On-Cloudcruiser-GP100-Gear-Patrol-SLATE

On, the Swiss running shoe company, introduced their patented CloudTec technology five years ago. The innovative cushioning system places rubber pods (or “clouds”) on the outsoles of their running shoes to reduce landing impact while also improving energy transfer from heel to toe. Better efficiency, more comfort.

The Cloudcruisers are On’s newest running shoes. Their 15 rubber clouds are designed to soften the beating that high-impact runners take on their legs and feet. The shoes have an innovative lacing system: an inner sheath along the shoe’s vamp evenly distributes pressure around the tongue. The Cloudcruisers also have an external arch saddle, a memory-foam collar and a forgiving midsole with Speedboard — essentially a four-part system of rails and grids in the middle of the shoe — that On says encourages a natural rolling motion, energy distribution and a guided stride.

At just under 11 ounces, with a seven-millimeter heel-to-toe offset, the Cloudcruisers split the middle ground between being minimalist shoes and pavement pounders. Add enough ankle stability to take on uneven terrain, and they’re the optimal running shoes for everyone from recreational triathletes to distance runners knocking out high mileage over the weekend, on the road and off. on-running.com
