A Respected Hi-Fi Company Just Reimagined Its Classic Audiophile Loudspeakers

The Scandinavian audio maker is introducing two new loudspeaker ranges.

Jamo is a Danish hi-fi manufacturer with a history of making high-end loudspeakers that dates back to the late 1960s. After being sold in 2024, the company announced a few months ago that it would be introducing its first loudspeakers under its new ownership.

Now that new range has officially been announced. And rather than carving a brand new path, the series of loudspeakers pays homage to (and reimagines) the brand’s Concert series of loudspeakers, which were originally released in the mid-1990s.

According to the brand, its new Concert Series “returns as a renewed expression of Scandinavian hi-fi, bringing together acoustic heritage, contemporary design, and real-room performance for the way people live with music today.”

But rather than just one new loudspeaker range, Jamo’s Concert Series is separated into two distinctive speaker families, one focused on premium hi-fi and one more focused on contemporary design.

The Concert Legacy is the more premium of the two new Concert Series. It draws inspiration from the original Concert 8 and Concert 11 loudspeakers that were introduced in 1996. According to Jamo, the refreshed line “explores how those classics would have naturally progressed over three decades of innovation.”

In this fresh Concert Legacy series, there are three loudspeaker models: the Concert Legacy 8 bookshelf speakers, the Concert Legacy 9 compact floorstanding speakers, and the flagship Concert Legacy 11 floorstanding speakers.

Each of these models features a four-degree forward-leaning aluminum plinth that “creates visual lift and space for the underside-mounted down-firing bass loading system, helping bass couple naturally with the floor while improving placement flexibility.”

All three models have the same tweeter and midrange driver combination, but the two floostanding models, the Concert Legacy 9 and Concert Legacy 11, have a bottom driver section that houses the woofer. (In fact, it looks as if the Concert Legacy 8 is placed on top of each floor-standing model.)

The Concert Element is the more design-focused (or “lifestyle”) of the two ranges. Developed with HarritSørensen, a Copenhagen-based industrial design firm, the series is characterized by its innovative “The Circle over the Square” architecture.

This means that each driver is hidden underneath a circular module that, according to the brand, extends “beyond the shallow rectangular enclosure, making the sound-producing element both the visual and acoustic center of the speaker.”

Basically, it’s a high-end loudspeaker range that’s designed to look good and complement contemporary living spaces.

There are four loudspeaker models in the Concert Element series: the Concert Element 50 bookshelf speakers, the Concert Element 70 compact floorstanding speakers and the flagship Concert Element 90 floorstanding speakers. There’s also a wired subwoofer, the Concert Element SW10.
