Last week, Kanto Audio revealed a new flagship bookshelf speaker: the Grand Tuk. As its name suggests, it’s a bigger and better (and more expensive) version of the brand’s previous flagship model, the Tuk.

While the Grand Tuk was the headline news, the Canadian hi-fi company also announced that it was revamping some of its most popular bookshelf speakers, including the Yu4, Yu6 and Tuk ranges.

It’s the first time Kanto has upgraded speakers in years.

Kanto first introduced the Yu range of speakers in 2014 as a way to make high-fidelity audio more accessible. To date, there have been four models in the Yu series, with the Yu4 and Yu6 being the two larger bookshelf models. (The higher the number, the bigger the speakers.)

For 2026, Kanto is introducing next-generation versions of both the Yu4 and Yu6 powered speaker systems. They have the same two-way design as their predecessors, but have new integrated drivers that create a wider soundstage, plus DSP tuning and updated electronics.

These new Yu4 and Yu6 bookshelf speakers have a new look. Specifically, they have a completely redesigned cabinet and front baffle, which Kanto describes as “a more refined, modern aesthetic,” as well as helping improve performance through “better driver integration and dispersion.”

Powered and passive models of each

Both Yu4 and Yu6 will be available in both powered and passive models.

Like their predecessors, the powered models of both Yu4 and Yu6 bookshelf speakers function as plug-and-play hi-fi systems on their own. They have built-in Bluetooth for streaming, a built-in phono stage for easy turntable connectivity, as well as USB-C and RCA inputs for use as desktop speakers or with separate sources.

The passive versions have the same upgraded cabinet architecture and acoustic improvements as the powered models, but are significantly more affordable and give users more freedom to create a hi-fi system the way they want.

The updated Tuk powered speakers, which are slightly larger and more powerful than the Yu6 (the bigger of the two new Yu speakers), come with all the enhancements of their larger sibling, the Tuk Grand.

The new Tuk powered speakers have a new square-corner cabinet design, instead of the soft rounded edges of previous models. This cabinet is also larger.

And they come with a revised AMT tweeter and refined waveguide geometry, which the brand claims helps the new Tuk  deliver “smoother high-frequency response, improved detail, and more consistent performance across a wider listening area.”

Like the other models, the new Tuk will be available in powered and passive models, too.

Price and availability

The new Yu4 and Yu6 will be available in five colors: white, black, walnut, ice blue and green. The Yu4 will cost $250/pair (passive) and $450/pair (powered). The Yu6 will cost $350/pair (passive) and $550/pair (powered).

The new Tuk will come in the same five finishes as the Tuk Grand: black, white, walnut, burled engineered wood and butter. They will cost $700/pair (passive) and $900/pair (powered).

All of Kanto’s redesigned speakers will launch sometime in the summer. They are not available for preorder at this time.
