Piega is a Swiss audio manufacturer that has been making high-end loudspeakers since the mid-1980s. The brand offers several different loudspeaker ranges, headlined by its Master Line Source series, which can run up to $100,000 for a pair of floorstanders.

Earlier in 2025, Piega released “Gen 2” versions of its Premium loudspeakers, which sit between its entry-level Ace and midrange Coax ranges. These Premium Gen2 speakers are still reserved for serious audiophiles, but they’re significantly more approachable, with pricing ranging from roughly $2,000 to $8,000 (depending on the model).

And now the company has added a new flagship pair of floorstanding loudspeakers to its Premium Gen2 range.

A new flagship floorstander

Since its release earlier this, the Premium Gen2 range has consisted of just two models, the Premium 301 Gen2 bookshelf speakers and the Premium 701 Gen2 floorstanding speakers. With the launch of the Premium 801, the Swiss loudspeaker specialist has added a third.

The significant upgrades with all Premium Gen2 loudspeakers — including the Premium 801 — come down to a few things.

Newly-developed tweeter

First, each loudspeaker has a newly developed SSD (Super Symmetric Drive) ribbon tweeter that, according to the brand, “achieves extremely fast transient response and outstanding detail resolution.”

What’s unique about the Premium 801 (compared to the Premium 301 Gen2 and Premium 701 Gen2) is that its tweeter is paired with a specially engineered horn that Piega says results “in nearly double the efficiency, a lower crossover frequency (of around 2.7 kHz), and extended presence in the acoustic output.”

And second, all Premium Gen2 loudspeakers have a more premium build. Their bodies are made of a highly rigid extruded aluminium, giving each a similar look and profile as the brand’s higher-end Coax range of loudspeakers.

As far as the actual loudspeakers, each Premium 801 has a similar three-way design as the range’s other floorstanding speaker, the Premium 701 Gen2. but has four woofers (instead of two), along with the same midrange with a newly tuned crossover.

According to the brand, the Premium 801 floorstanders are able to achieve “a natural, spatial sound image that allows music to be experienced with impressive clarity and depth.”
