Ferrari-458-Speciale-A-Gear-Patrol Ferrari 458 Speciale A
Ferrari’s 458 is anything but old news — especially with Ferrari’s claim that the 458 Speciale A is the most potent production convertible they’ve ever made, with 597 horsepower and 398 lb-ft of torque from its 4.5-liter V8. Like the 458 Spider, the A has a retractable hardtop that sacrifices little performance, delivering 0-60 times under 3 seconds. The unique yellow paint job with a full-body racing stripe is complemented with yellow Alcantara seats and a blue carbon-fiber trim. ferrari.com

Expect it to tear up fairways January 2015. $480
Middle-Earth-Shadow-of-Mordor Middle-Earth: Shadow of Mordor
The gaming industry has an awful track record for transforming ultra successful movies and books into terrible games. Based on the effusive reviews, Middle-Earth: Shadow of Mordor bucks the trend. Get it on all major consoles as well as PC. $50
DeathandCo-Modern-Classic-Cocktails-Gear-Patrol Death & Co. Modern Classic Cocktails
Here’s a humble Amazon description if we’ve ever seen one. “Death & Co is the most important, influential, and oft-imitated bar to emerge from the contemporary craft cocktail movement.” It’s a brash statement for sure, but then again, so are the East Village institution’s creations. Their new tome of all things mixology is destined to impress any would-be crafters with over 500 recipes and oodles of additional spiritual wisdom. $26 ()

Beyond the added pixels, every set in the series boasts plenty of other high-ends specs like full-array backlight panels with local dimming, normally reserved for high-end LCDs. $1,000

It’s hard to find truly good-looking headphones; they’re either too plain or they scream a brand (Beats, SkullCandy). Beoplay’s H6 series, available in three simple shades, are the nicest-looking over-the-ear cans to date. The aesthetics are city-inspired, but the functionality speaks more to city life than the hues: the headphones can be daisy chained — i.e., a separate pair of headphones connects to the H6s for shared listening, perfect for long subway rides — and a microphone like the one on your tinny ear buds. $399

Ducati-Scrambler-Gear-Patrol Ducati Scrambler
At $8,495, the all-new Scrambler (in “Icon” guise) is now the most affordable way to call a Ducati your own. It may also be the most fun, too. A modern interpretation of their original trail-ready bike from the ’60s, this new model is decidedly retro but far from contrived. Powered by an 803cc, air-cooled, Desmodromic L-Twin engine that churns out 75 hp to motivate a mere 410 pounds (wet), the Ducati is not only less expensive than the only other Scrambler on the market today, but it’s lighter and more powerful too. Look for it sometime in January in its Icon, Urban Enduro, Classic and Full Throttle trims. $8,495
