Tracking Down an Obscure Watch
From the Experts
We received this email from a reader named Darius:
Gear Patrol team,
A few years back, one of your writers (Jason Heaton) did a review of the Autodromo Veloce. I think this watch is amazing, and I’d love to buy it. But, as you know, it was limited edition. So this is a real shot in the dark, but I’m curious to know if your team still has the Veloce you reviewed and, if so, if you’d be willing to sell it to me. (can’t hurt to ask right???) Also, if the above is above is a no-go, I’d appreciate any guidance you might able to share on where I might acquire one second hand.
Thx,
Darius
We sent it along to our Watches team — here’s what they dug up.
Andrew: Ha, Bryan actually really wants one of those watches, too. And if I correctly recall, Autodromo’s founder told me a lot of fans have asked him to do a reissue. Chrono24 has one for sale currently. Normally I would recommend going through a vetted dealer on Chrono24 (this is just a private seller), but seeing as it’s a relatively new quartz watch I wouldn’t be too worried about it.
Jason: I still have my Veloce and will contact Bryan about it. I never wear it and he’d be a worthy owner.
Andrew: Also forgot to mention Watch Recon is a great source for scouring watch forums for rare/obscure affordable watches.
