In 1938, Oris introduced the Big Crown Pointer Date timepiece. Built for pilots, it had an oversized crown so that glove-wearing airmen could easily adjust it. It also included an uncommon complication: a date indicated by a central pointer hand.
To celebrate the 80th anniversary of this pioneering timepiece, Oris has created the Big Crown Pointer Date 80th Anniversary Edition in a beautiful bronze case. The 40mm case, fluted bezel and oversized crown are all cast in bronze for a distinct look that will patinate over time. A striking green dial and dark brown leather strap complement the bronze, and of course, the Oris 754 movement features the automatic winding pointer date just like the original. Eighty years is celebrated well in this watch that gives a unique perspective on the passing of time.
