The Mercedes AMG G63 may be the planet’s most capable terrain-conquering production vehicle. But if you're a VIP who likes to sit in back, it's not ideal; there's not a ton of room back there compared to, say, a Maybach, and the stock G-class body doesn't offer protection against anyone who might choose to express their displeasure with you using firearms. Luckily for those few buyers, however, Canadian firm INKAS Armored Vehicles has stepped in to resolve those matters with their new 2020 Mercedes-Benz AMG G63 limo.
INKAS uses the regular Mercedes-AMG twin-turbo 4.0-liter V8 offering 577 horsepower, but that's one of the few stock parts on the vehicle. Modifications include an extended chassis and a heavy-duty suspension. Should you wish to leave the pavement, there’s an available off-road package with an optimized ride control suspension and a black underguard.
The armoring is extensive. The AMG G63 limo is built to CEN 1063 BR6 standards, which means it can withstand 7.62x51 mm rifle fire — rounds more powerful than those fired from M-16s and AK-47s. INKAS also says it can withstand two simultaneous hand grenade explosions beneath the vehicle floor. The AMG G63 limo also uses special run-flat tires that can still run at full speed if punctured.
The interior? It’s enough to make Tom Brady reconsider his Cadillac brand loyalty. The partitioned cabin has two fully-reclining captains chairs with leather or Alcantara suede seats and heating, cooling and massage functions. The on-board 4K TV can be raised and lowered. It even includes a chemical air filtration system that removes air pollutants and bacteria.
INKAS doesn't list the price for an AMG G63 limo build, but considering the AMG G63 starts at $156,450, a safe bet would be well into six figures. Still, that should buy you a ride exclusive enough that the guy down the block won’t also have one...unless you happen to live on a block with several crown princes and petrogarch billionaires.
