Pickup trucks and work boots go together like peanut butter and jelly. So perhaps it’s not surprising that when it came time to whip up the first special edition of the all-new, giant-faced Silverado HD, Chevrolet decided to partner up with one of the biggest names in heavy-duty footwear: Carhartt.
The 2021 Chevrolet Silverado HD Carhartt Special Edition, as it’s officially known, is based on the penultimate LTZ trim level of the heavy-duty Silverado 2500 HD; it only comes in crew cab form, and comes packing the Z71 Off-Road Package that brings twin-tube Rancho off-road shocks, protective skid plates and hill descent control to the party.
The Carhartt-specific features start with the exclusive Mosaic Black paint on the outside, paired with a pinstripe rendered in Carhartt gold and black-painted grille and bumpers. Unique 20-inch wheels wearing off-road tires provide grip, while special Carhartt badges on the tailgate, doors and soft tonneau bed cover remind the owner of his or her truck’s footwear connection.
That connection is harder to miss inside, where the boot brand’s logo can be found embroidered onto the headrests and slapped onto the all-weather floormats. The two-tone seats are coated in black and Carhartt Brown leather, with yellow and white accent stitching for extra visual pop.
Chevrolet’s press release didn’t mention pricing, but a basic Silverado 2500 HD with similar equipment starts at $59,050, so don’t expect to be able to bring a Carhartt Chevy home for less than $60,000 when it officially goes on sale in the fall of 2020.
