Porsche’s Luxury SUV Just Proved Why It’s Secretly a Great Off-Roader

Off-roading isn’t what typically comes to mind when thinking of Porsche. But this North Carolina-based company most certainly seeks to change that.

It’s called EuroWise and they largely specialize in kitting out European SUVs and unleashing their inner four-wheeler roots. The aftermarket tuning firm just revealed its latest full-on concoction.

And, it’s as every bit as badass as it looks. It’s called the Cayenne Ultra EVO, and it’s a fully-modified second-gen Cayenne V8 that epitomizes the company’s latest Cayenne Ultra program.

Not all Porsches are pavement queens

When the Porsche Cayenne first launched in 2002, it was a major source of controversy. Especially among particularly among purists and sports car enthusiasts.

Because, how can a company, who gave us some of history’s greatest sports cars, make a boring family SUV?

Well, almost a quarter of a century later, we now all know why. SUVs are total cash cows and the Cayenne essentially saved Porsche financially in the 2000s.

Skepticism always surrounded the Cayenne as it was too big, heavy and ponderous to be even remotely perceived as a sports car. But it also didn’t seem rugged enough to be a true SUV or off-roader, in the conventional sense.

However, as Porsche and Cayenne owners have proven over the years, the platform is incredibly capable both on the road and off. And EuroWise specializes in truly showing how proficient they are, especially when given the proper upgrades.

Converting your old, craggy Cayenne into a true overlanding beast

EuroWise’s new Cayenne Ultra Program essentially offers customers the ability to fully kit and customize their Porsche SUV into an off-roading beast. And to showcase the possibilities and what happens when you pull out all the stops, the firm created its own Cayenne Ultra EVO.

Starting with a second-generation V8-powered Cayenne Turbo, EuroWise begins by fitting upgraded turbochargers, a high-performance intercooler and freer-flowing custom exhaust system. To complement the engine tune and upgrades, the firm also flashes the V8’s engine control unit with a more aggressive tune mapping.

The result is 650 horsepower and a whopping 750 pound-feet of torque. Which is a heckuva lot more than the generation’s top-spec 562 horses and 590 torques in the Cayenne Turbo S.

EuroWise also upgraded the suspension for more ground clearance and better axle travel. The result is the ability to traverse obstacles and tackle trails at greater speed.

Adding to the off-road capability is the fitment of beefy all-terrain tires, and a custom carbon fiber widebody kit to accommodate the larger rubber and greater axle articulation.

EuroWise didn’t specify pricing specifically for this complete example. But a used second-gen Cayenne Turbo fetches around $35,000-$40,000 and if one budgets accordingly, even if these upgrades cost a pretty penny, one can end up with a truly badass off-roader.
