An Iconic Japanese Off-Roader Just Got Even More Badass

It’s already disappointing knowing that Suzuki still sells the Jimny internationally. And all we can do is just lust over it from thousands of miles away.

Now, the quirky Japanese automaker just gave us even more reason to lust over it.

The company just approved the production of a new, comprehensive line of factory-backed accessories. When decked out with said accessories, it transforms the little four-by-four into one seriously awesome and tiny off-roader that we wish we got even more.

The legend of the Samurai lives on

If the Suzuki Jimny sounds familiar, we used to get it back when the automaker had a Stateside presence. Only, it was badged as the Samurai.

Suzuki sold the Samurai in North America up until 1995. Which, is when SUV occupant safety and rollover crash testing became major concern. Especially since SUVs exploded in popularity at the time.

However, because that last ’90s Samurai was based on a design dating back to 1981, Suzuki was unable to update the model to meet the then-newfound crash standards. Thus, the carmaker abruptly pulled the model from the market, and it’s been absent since.

Back in 2018, Suzuki made the world jealous by creating an all-new fourth-gen model. Though sadly, it remains off limits to American buyers.

Today, the Samurai lives on as the Jimny in Japan and select export European and Asian markets. And to spice up the model, particularly since it’s nearing a decade old in its current form, Suzuki approved the manufacturing of some aftermarket parts by integrating them as genuine Suzuki add-ons.

Based off of a crowd-backed favorite

The Suzuki Jimny’s new line of factory-backed accessories take inspiration from a concept showcased at Japan’s Jimny enthusiast outing called JimnySunlight 2026. It’s called the Gozel Outdoor Concept.

When Suzuki brought the concept to the show, it featured some notable exterior upgrades from aftermarket firm, AWIN. The upgrades amounted to what’s normally equated to an apperanace package.

However, the upgrades got so much attention from fans, Suzuki took note and ended up contracting AWIN. Now, the firm will produce the parts officially for the Jimny’s factory accessory catalogue.

The list includes some beefed up appointments on both the front and rear bumpers, along with a special Gozel rear spare tire cover.

The add-ons also feature reinforced skid plates with eye-catching red paint trim, a new front honeycomb-patterened grille and red-matching mud flaps.

Altogether, AWIN’s subtle accessories do add up to spruce up the Jimney’s exterior. As exhibited by the Gozel Concept, they definitely make the tiny SUV appear even more mighty than its kei-car-like size suggests.

And it just simply makes us want the Jimny on our shores even more.
