My Favorite Patagonia Gear Is on Sale Now

I’ve been wearing Patagonia since I was a toddler, and I’m always on the alert when anything from the outdoor company goes on sale.

I was raised on Patagonia. A tour through my mom’s home is a testament to it; the furniture surfaces are covered in framed photographs documenting the past few decades, and in some of them I’m young, my hair is eight inches shorter than it is now, and I’m suited-up in a Patagonia Synchilla fleece. Photos of my brother show him in the same fleece — it was a hand-me-down.

Once I hit double digits though, something mysterious happens, and the Patagonia logo disappears from my chest. Likely because I was growing faster than my mom’s wallet could keep up with — I entered the age of if-you-want-it-buy-it-yourself, totally unaware of the golden days I had been living in.

Now I know though. Now I have a full-time job and can afford to buy Patagonia for myself (and at Christmas, for my mom, too). It’s still pricey though — there’s a reason some call it Patagucci — so whenever a sale pops up online my hand twitches toward my wallet. That wallet is currently under lock and key because Backcountry is holding a Big Brands sale that features none other than Patagonia.

Inside that sale are some of my favorite items. These are the things that made me fall in love with the brand (and realize how good I had it as a toddler). Things like Patagonia’s Black Hole Duffel, which I’ve toted while hitchhiking in Chile, its Nano Puff Hoody, which has scars of its own from years of wear and multiple repairs, and like the Stretch Rainshadow jacket, which I’ve just recently discovered and come to consider essential.

All of these things and many more high-quality pieces of gear from Patagonia are currently on sale for 30 percent off. This sale ends on May 17, 2018.
