This Cheap Multi-tool Is for People Who Don’t Need Multi-tools

SOG’s CrossCut swaps pliers for scissors and shrinks the multi-tool to fit on a keychain.

SOG-Crosscut-Multitool-Gear-Patrol-lead-full

Most butterfly-style multi-tools build on a base of pliers, with knives, screwdrivers and bottle openers folding out of the handles, but not the SOG CrossCut, which is currently on sale at REI for 31 percent off. Instead, SOG put a pair of spring-loaded scissors front and center, with a knife, bottle opener, two screwdrivers, nail file, ruler, toothpick and tweezers available in its handles. It’s a setup that’s more practical for general users who don’t find a daily need for pliers or more specialized tools like awls and wire cutters, and with a 2.5-inch length when closed it’ll fit neatly on the keychain you already carry.
