The World’s Best Drip Coffee Makers Are an Absolute Steal for Prime Day

The Technivorm Moccamaster line commands near-universal praise from serious coffee drinkers — and Prime Day just made it easier to justify buying one.

Few coffee makers have earned the kind of consensus the Technivorm Moccamaster has. Beloved by specialty coffee shops, praised by Serious Eats, and endorsed by Food & Wine, the Dutch-built brewer has held its reputation for decades by doing one thing exceptionally well: brewing coffee at the right temperature, fast, every time. That consistency has made it the default recommendation for anyone who wants genuinely great coffee without a learning curve.

For Prime Day, Technivorm has significantly lowered the prices of its most popular drip coffee machines across a wide range of colors.

The classic Moccamaster most people think of is defined by its silvery/stainless steel body, which was well ahead of the modern trend in home appliances towards metallic sheens. But the brand has also offered a wide range of color options to suit all tastes for quite some time.

The Technivorm Moccamaster 79315 KBGT (Midnight Black Edition) is a notable standout, as it’s the first all-matte-black version of the machine and was only released recently. It’s on sale now from $240, down from its regular $359. That’s the lowest price the KBGT has seen this year, and other color variants of the machine are even slightly cheaper.

The classic and most widely reviewed Technivorm Moccamaster 53930 KBGV 10-Cup Coffee Maker is also included in the sale in over 20 colors. The iconic silver version costs just $239, down from $370, making this the second-lowest price we’ve ever seen for this machine, though your exact savings will vary depending on which of the 20+ color options you choose.

Despite the brand’s steady introduction of new shades and finishes over the decades, this is actually the first time the Dutch manufacturer has released a blacked-out carafe, which, when paired with the black KBGT machine, results in the stealthiest Moccamaster ever.

A third and most affordable option, the Technivorm 59691 KB Coffee Brewer, is also on sale, dropping to $227 from $339, in a range of colors and finishes. Unlike the 53930 KBGV mentioned above, which can handle full or half batches of coffee with the flip of a single switch, the cheaper 59691 requires users to adjust a manual, 3-way adjustable switch on the brew basket, which, frankly, isn’t a big deal at all.

Why a Moccamaster is worth considering

Technivorm has manufactured over 10 million Moccamaster coffee makers since the late 1960s. Every one is still built by hand.

The KBGT brews at 196 – 205°F — the range specialty coffee professionals consider optimal — and cycles through a full 40-ounce carafe in 4 – 6 minutes. That speed matters because it prevents the brew bed from over-extracting, which is the main source of coffee bitterness.

The thermal carafe maintains temperature for hours without a hot plate, preserving flavor. Eater’s review called the machine’s build quality immediately apparent — and it is. Technivorm hand-assembles every unit in Amerongen, Netherlands, and backs each one with a five-year warranty.

The Midnight Black colorway is a newer addition to the lineup. We covered its debut — it brings a matte-black finish to the KBGT’s already clean silhouette, making it one of the better-looking appliances you can put on a counter. The KBGT’s thermal carafe distinguishes it from the glass-carafe KB variant; if you drink coffee over a longer stretch in the morning, the thermal model is the right call.

Availability and pricing

All three models are discounted through Amazon for Prime Day. The KBGT in Midnight Black is $240 (regularly $359), and the KB Brewer is $227 (regularly $339). The classic Technivorm Moccamaster 53930 KBGV 10-Cup Coffee Maker is $239 (regularly $370).

As our Prime Day coverage from last year noted, Moccamaster deals at this depth don’t linger — and this year’s discount is steeper than most.
