Nike Officially Enters the Hybrid Fitness Footwear Arms Race

The Swoosh enters an entirely new product category with its first-ever Hyrox-specific models, the Hybrid Fly and Hybrid RN.

First, Puma made waves in February with the release of its Hyrox-specific shoe, the Deviate Nitro Elite Hyrox.

Then, Adidas followed suit with the Adizero Dropset Elite in March.

Now, Nike is joining in on what’s considered one of the most exciting, rapidly growing categories in fitness, with the announcement of its brand-new footwear system: Hybrid.

Ready for anything

Encompassing two entirely new models, Hybrid, as the name suggests, is built for the unique demands of hybrid fitness racing; being able to seamlessly move between running, lifting and dynamic movement, while simultaneously offering stability and explosive power.

Nike Hybrid RN is a runnable daily trainer crafted for everyday hybrid training, while Nike Hybrid Fly is its race-day counterpart.

The everyday-ready Hybrid RN is built with ReactX foam and a forefoot Air Zoom unit, along with a stable, wider outsole, X-shaped upper overlays for more security, an engineered mesh upper and a dual-rubber outsole for traction across variable surfaces.

Meanwhile, Nike Hybrid Fly combines ZoomX foam, a full-length carbon Flyplate and dual forefoot Air Zoom units to offer athletes an advantage on race day.

The Hybrid RN is the multi-purpose everyday workhorse, designed to support athletes on the way to competition.

Additional hybrid-race specific features include its race lockdown laces, four-zone traction with sticky rubber and sidewall wraps for better grip and a lightweight engineered mesh upper reinforced with zoned haptic lines for support and lightweight strength.

Built for both training and racing, the upcoming Hybrid system promises to eliminate athletes’ compromise between stability and speed.

Availability and pricing

The Nike Hybrid RN will release in China on September 24 before becoming available globally on October 8 at Nike’s website and select retail locations.

The Nike Hybrid Fly will launch globally in April 2027.
