Puma Refines the Deviate Nitro Elite 4 for Hybrid Fitness Racing

The latest Puma x Hyrox edition of the Deviate Nitro Elite 4 fine-tunes the brand’s flagship carbon-plated racer.

Puma released the Deviate Nitro Elite 4 in February, with the fourth iteration of the franchise not so much a reinvention as it was a refinement, addressing compromises from earlier versions while making the carbon-plated racer lighter, more stable and more versatile.

The newly announced Puma x Hyrox Deviate Nitro Elite 4 follows a similar playbook.

Rather than introducing a completely new shoe, the collaboration builds on Puma’s latest super shoe platform while adapting it for the hybrid fitness racing format that Hyrox has helped bring into the mainstream.

Sporty “super”star

In many respects, the upcoming Puma x Hyrox Deviate Nitro Elite 4 maintains the foundation that made the shoe such a standout in the footwear field (and also in respect to its own predecessors).

The NitroFoam Elite cushioning, carbon-fiber PwrPlate, 40mm heel/ 32mm forefoot stack height and 8mm drop all remain the same.

While much of the shoe remains consistent, significant portions have received a Hyrox-inspired update.

The upper sports high-performance designs specifically curated for the ultimate fitness race, including a hybrid Puma/ Hyrox logo treatment on the medial side of the shoe and insole.

The PumaGrip outsole is retooled in a full-coverage format, with specialized beaded lugs across the entire underside for maximum tackiness and traction on pavement, turf, rubber gym floors and stations … everything you’d encounter in a Hyrox race.

Two new colorways are being debuted on the multi-hyphenate super shoe: Puma Black-Vibrant Yellow and Puma White-Puma Black.

The Hyrox-specific version of Puma’s flagship super shoe adds a $10 premium over the standard Deviate Nitro Elite 4, bringing its price to $260 and placing it among the most expensive carbon-plated racers on the market.

Availability and pricing

The Puma x Hyrox Deviate Nitro Elite 4 will be available for purchase on Puma’s website starting 7/31 at 9pm PDT. The super shoe will retail for $260.
