Russian Standard

The latest vodka to enter the US, Russian Standard Gold Vodka ($45) is made from 100 percent Russian ingredients, including winter wheat from the Russian Black Steppes, soft glacial water from Lake Ladoga in Northern Russia and Siberian Ginseng extracts. The spirit has a luxuriously rich mouthfeel and smooth taste.

Hinting at herbs, caramel and mint Russian Standard Gold Vodka flavors include vanilla and soft wheat, while the clean, cool finish — longer than most vodkas — is accentuated with cinnamon spice notes.

Many vodka drinkers rush to dilute the spirit with soda or sugary mixers, but try drinking Russian Standard Gold in the Russian fashion: served neat or over ice. It packs more flavor than most vodkas and leaves any harsh, Isopropyl-like qualities at home.

Got a vodka-drinking friend? Russian Standard Gold comes in a pretty package, convenient for holiday gifting. The bottle’s bear and eagle logo pays tribute to centuries-old Russian symbols, while the box is embossed with a fancy gold-foiled label.

Macy’s gift-wrap experts can’t top that.
