Just in time for the holidays, Laphroaig announced the launch of its limited 16-year-old expression.
The Laphroaig 16 Year Old was aged in ex-bourbon barrels for 16 years, resulting in a significantly softer flavor profile than standard Laphroaig expressions. The bourbon-rich oak imparts more vanilla and sweetness than you’d typically find in an Islay scotch. The dark copper scotch gives off oak, maple syrup and floral notes on the nose, with a touch of black pepper, according to the company’s press release.
The new 96-proof expression is available nationwide, with a suggested retail price of $90 for a 750mL bottle.
