Over the course of a whopping 155 years, Blundstone has carefully crafted a reputation for building the finest Chelsea boots Australia has to offer. And they’ve been so consistently great that the brand has become world famous as a result.

Yet the brand’s latest release represents its finest offering ever, even by its own account. Blundstone’s Heritage Chelsea Boots take that entire century-and-a-half of craftsmanship and unrivaled quality and concentrate it into a quartet of ultra-premium boots.

Historic heritage boots

This is not the first time Blundstone has had a Heritage boot series. The inaugural launch happened in 2020, coinciding with the brand’s 150th anniversary.

As such, this new launch is a reissue or a reintroduction to that line, with a few key improvements to make these boots even finer than before. In fact, in the brand’s own words, these boots represent “the most sophisticated dress boot[s]” Blundstone has to offer, combining the outfit’s premium craftsmanship and 155 years of design expertise.

Blundstone isn’t starting from nil, however. These boots draw directly from the brand’s “archival styles, bringing together design elements from the past and modern materials.”

The collection includes four Chelsea boots — the #156, #157, #158 and #159 — all of which feature sharper lines and more refined silhouettes than ever before.

A good year for Goodyear

While there are myriad colorways to choose from, the boots all share some material and construction throughlines. For instance, all of these boots boast Goodyear welt construction, which makes them easily resoled and, therefore, able to become heirlooms to be passed down.

The boots also boast removable Ortholite foam footbeds and cork filler, which will mold to the user’s feet over time, offering up a more custom fit. Customers can also choose between nubuck and aniline leather, both premium and full-grain, which will vary by style and colorway.

But here’s where Blundstone has really taken its time to shine: every single pair of boots follows a painstaking 72-step process, passing through 34 pairs of hands. That level of quality, craftsmanship, love and care is simply unmatched.

Of course, it does mean these boots come at a premium price to match. But think of it as an investment. With their supreme quality, these are boots that could feasibly last for generations, even if you wear them as often as possible.
