Maybe it’s inflation, maybe it’s still-emerging technology, maybe it’s a combination of the two … but somehow, some way, over the past few years, it became typical for so-called “super shoes” to tread way past the $200 mark.

Now, anything below that benchmark feels like a deal … but can also sacrifice performance.

That’s where Diadora’s brand-new daily trainer, the Corsa, steps in.

The relatively affordable workhorse looks and functions like a super shoe, but for a much more wallet-friendly MSRP.

Super duper

Founded in 1948, Diadora boasts heritage that is particularly strong in soccer, but the Italian label also has deep roots in running and tennis. With the current explosion in running’s popularity, it’s no wonder the brand decided to lean in to the super shoe movement.

On Diadora’s website, the Corsa is billed as representing the “ultimate evolution of the lightweight performance trainer,” which sounds fairly lofty, until you dig into the shoe’s specs.

Weighing just north of 8 ounces with an 8 mm drop, the runner is powered by proprietary Anima N2, Diadora’s supercritical-foamed EVA compound, which delivers barely-there lightness and a massive boost in reactivity.

That high energy-return is reinforced by a SCF TPU element and Special Duratech 5000 wear-resistant compound across the full outsole, elements that offer support and traction.

Diadora says that thanks to the lightness and energy return of its midsole tech, no carbon plate is required, cutting down on weight, manufacturing complexity and, ultimately, price.

The brand also redesigned the Corsa’s last, which yields a wider toe box and broader platform for comfort, stability and control.

The engineered mesh upper and secure lace fastening offer a no-nonsense, dependable fit and adjustment for daily miles and high-demand outputs.

The Corsa’s aim to be your go-to daily trainer is also supported by its price; at $155, this runner is a much more wallet-friendly alternative to mid-tier and race-ready super shoes, but it still stays above budget builds in terms of quality.

Availability and pricing

The Corsa is available now at premier running stores in the US and directly through Diadora’s website, retailing for $155.
