NikeSkims Swaps Mesh for Sleek Satin on Its Polarizing Rift Shoe

The Rift Satin arrives in two striking new colorways and a refined new material, elevating the distinct design.

From the start, NikeSkims has elicited reactions ranging from excitement to skepticism, but there’s no denying the popularity of the ongoing collaboration.

Earlier this year, the partnership introduced the split-toe NikeSkims Rift Mesh, a minimalist, fashion-forward reinterpretation of Nike’s original Air Rift.

Now, the streamlined silhouette returns in a satin construction, trading its sporty mesh upper for a lustrous finish that pushes the design even further into fashion territory.

Unsurprisingly, one of the new colorways is already nearing a sellout, with the remaining styles quickly following suit.

Satin shift

Rather than completely reinventing the NikeSkims Rift, the new satin edition elevates the polarizing model.

The Rift Mesh reinterpreted the ’90s Air Rift with a streamlined upper, simplified strap system, slimmer sole and ballet-inspired styling while retaining its signature split-toe design.

The latest release builds on that initial revision, swapping in a fashion-forward upper and a dressier aesthetic.

The Rift Satin maintains the simplified single strap of its predecessor while adding an elegant new material treatment.

Nike

As the name suggests, the Rift Satin features a new upper constructed from luxurious satin with a smooth finish. A soft sheen replaces the matte texture of the preceding style.

The refined profile continues to feature the barefoot-inspired, textured logo outsole, minimal construction and simplified single strap of January’s Rift Mesh release.

The Rift Satin isn’t just a material update, as the shoe also expands the NikeSkims Rift lineup with two new colorways: Obsidian and Night Silver.

Availability and pricing

The NikeSkims Rift Satin is available now on Nike’s website, retailing for $160.

The Silt Red colorway is almost sold out, but there are a wide variety of sizes left in the three additional colorways.
