On’s Speedy Race Day Release Is a Minimalist Masterpiece

The fourth collaborative effort between On and PAF combines a performance-first approach with a striking profile.

The current running boom sees the popular exercise evolving on both a macro and micro level.

Interest and accessibility are higher than ever, and brands are responding with style-focused apparel, footwear and accessories that reflect the now-broad appeal of putting one foot in front of the other.

On’s latest release captures that shift on a smaller scale, and uses metamorphosis as the inspiration behind its latest capsule.

Part of the ongoing partnership between On and Post Archive Faction (PAF), the limited-edition Cloudboom Volt PAF anchors the new Current Form 4.0 collection with a design-and-performance-focused approach.

Style evolution

The Cloudboom Volt PAF blends style and substance easily, with the result being a streamlined race day shoe built to excel anywhere from 10Ks to half-marathons.

Most notably, the speed-tuned sneaker uses a novel, aerodynamic overlay design on the upper, paired with an integrated wrap construction, that is intended to mimic the visual effect of a moth emerging from its shell.

The unique upper is built with a breathable mesh and woven fabric, offering excellent breathability and comfort. At just 7.76 ounces, the new runner is incredibly lightweight.

While streamlined in appearance, the new shoe is packed with On’s proprietary performance tech.

That theme of metamorphosis through movement is continued through the use of two layers of Helion HF hyper foam, to deliver maximum energy return. A carbon Speedboard insert flexes with natural movement and propels each step forward.

Finally, the rubber outsole offers enhanced grip and control over short and long runs.

On and PAF’s collaborative silhouette is available in two neutral-yet-stunning colorways: White / Gale and Ember / Pebble.

The shoe is available in both men’s and women’s sizing, and will be released alongside a selection of high performance apparel and accessories.

Availability and pricing

The Cloudboom Volt PAF will be available via On’s website, as well as PAF’s and select retail partners, starting June 25th, and will retail for $280.
