The World’s Most Awarded Rye Whiskey Maker Just Released a New Whiskey

WhistlePig only makes rye whiskey and we’re all better off for it.

WhistlePig Distillery knows rye whiskey. It’s the only whiskey type the brand produces, and its pinnacle bottle, The Boss Hog, won both “Best in Show, Whiskey” and “Best Rye Whiskey” at the all-important San Francisco Spirits Competition last year. There’s not a poorly-reviewed rye whiskey in its catalog, and its just-released FarmStock 002 aims at continuing that trend.

The $73 bottle is the follow-up to the FarmStock 001 bottle and a continuation of WhistlePig’s push into terroir whiskey. Made with its specific grain, water and in its custom-made barrels, the company also sourced more than 500 bartenders, mixologists and drinkers in crafting it. The result of the outsourcing, in addition to carrying on with stout doses of vanilla, caramel and cinnamon already present, is more citrus and brightness on the nose and palate.
