The team behind Made In Cookware just wants to make the tools used in commercial kitchens available to home cooks. The brand’s catalog started with a set of clad steel pots and pans, and it quickly expanded to include carbon steel pans and, as of this week, a set of knives.
Made In’s set is comprised of just three knives — a chef’s knife, paring knife and serrated utility knife — plus an optional maple wood cutting board. The knives, all made in France’s cutlery capital, Thiers, are designed in classic Western-style — thicker bevel, taller blade and a rounded heel — and forged with X50CrMoV15 steel, a high-carbon stainless steel composite that features superior edge retention than most stainless options.
Each knife (and the board) are new to Made In’s collection, save the chef’s knife, which came out in 2018 and remains our Best Value chef’s knife. The knives available as a three-piece set ($179) or with the cutting board ($269).
