The fridge door was put to good use years ago when some marketing genius decided to add a water dispenser and then charge a premium for it. SodaStream gets credit for creating the do-it-yourself seltzer market, or as they like to call it, “personal carbonation technology”; now they’ve teamed up with the Korean electronics giant to integrate their automatic sparkling water dispenser inside the Samsung RF31FMESBSR 36-inch Four-Door Refrigerator ($3,899).
In a first for the industry, the system relies on a standard SodaStream 60L CO2 cylinder that’s accessible via a concealed panel inside the left-side door. The same dispenser also serves chilled, filtered still (that’s “non-sparkling” for you plebeians) water for those not in a bubbly mood. Sammy’s also thrown in its own top-of-the-line enhancements including an Ice Master ice maker capable of making up to 10 pounds of rocks a day, LED lighting and a kid-friendly FlexZone drawer with four temperature settings. Appliance hunters currently riding the economic bubble in style can upgrade in April for a price of $3,899.
